The Owls men's and women's basketball teams secured victories over Moraine Valley during Tuesday night's double header. Down four points at the half, the men's Owls stormed back to come out with a 73-69 victory. The men were led by
Keimar Marable (Riverside, WI) who poured in a game high 26 points to lead the Owls. This continues a season long scoring stretch by Marable who leads the Owls in PPG at 14.5.
Finn Walsh (St. Laurence) provided a lift off the bench with 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists which gave the Owls a boost in the second half. The win brought the Owls conference record to 4-9 (9-18 overall).
The 6-4 (18-5 overall) women's basketball team was in a tightly contested game throughout the first half, as they took a one-point lead into the break. Going into the second half, the Owls stretched their lead and relied on their offensive leaders
Amena Alexander (Evanston Township) and
Nessa Walsh (St. Joseph) who scored a game high 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Amy Campbell (H-E-M Jr/Sr High) also played an important role in the offense putting up 11 points, while
Challen Flaws (Glenbrook South) added 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists helping the Owls earn the 63-55 win.
Coming up next, the Owls travel for a double header at Waubonsee on Friday, February 18th to wrap up conference play. The teams will then face Carl Sandburg College at home on Saturday, February 19th.
