Our 2023-2024 Student Athlete of the Year award goes to Macey Gandee and Daniel Allegretti!

Macey Gandee (Women's Basketball)

Macey Gandee was a part of the women's basketball team that fought through playoffs. The team was the 2024 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference runner-up. This sophomore was named first-team all-conference. Gandee averaged 16.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game, shooting 53% from the field and 88% from the free throw line. She received national honors as Region 4 D2 Player of the Week.

But her success didn't stop on the court. Macey also received the NJCAA All-American Award for her academic achievements her freshman and sophomore year. Macey will be continuing her education and basketball career at Emporia State University. Thank you Macey for all your hard work, we wish you the best on your future endeavors!

Daniel Allegretti (Men's Golf)

Daniel Allegretti was a freshman on the men's golf team. His team made it to the national championship for the first time in Oakton Athletics history. There he received All-Region 4 honors for his performance. At the national championship Dan placed 90th out of 128. 

His success didn't stop at nationals. His team received the NJCAA Team Academic Award. And he received individual recognition, NJCAA All- American Award: First Team for earning a 4.0 GPA. "This award is well deserved for him. Dan was a major part in our team being successful as it was. Dan's character, hard work on or off the course speak volumes. Dan carries a high GPA in the classroom to go along with his mid 70's average on the golf course," Louis Walker, Oakton Men's Golf Head Coach.

Dan is a promising student athlete and we are excited to see what he achieves this upcoming season.
