Owls Baseball Wraps Up Season with Fourth Consecutive World Series Birth

6/8/2022 2:36:00 PM

After a very exciting May, the Regional and District Champion Owls Baseball team finished out their season last week in their fourth consecutive appearance at the World Series. As one of only two unranked teams in the 8-team field competing for the national title, the #7 seeded Owls had a lot to prove. The men started out with an impressive win in their first game over #2 seed Rowan College of South Jersey (5-2). In the second game, they faced #6 seed Herkimer College (New York) in a matchup that would result in heartbreak. The Owls surrendered one run in the bottom of the ninth and dropped the game (9-8). In their third game, the Owls lost 11-3 to St. Cloud Tech (Minnesota), ultimately ending their World Series run. The highly competitive tournament saw the sixth seeded Herkimer secure the championship title.

The men ended their season with a 34-28-1 overall record (7-7 conference record). The Owls were selected for the World Series Team Sportsmanship Award and sophomore pitcher Kyle Moore (Bolingbrook) was awarded All-Tournament Team honors. The men are already looking forward to next year with expectations to punch their ticket to the National tournament for a fifth consecutive year.
