Mel Battistoni (Counseling Services) and
Justin Corbett (Academic Support & Compliance Specialist) have collaborated and developed an informative video addressing the current uncertainty of college athletics, online learning and other challenges student-athletes may face. The video below touches on resources that are available for all Oakton students to address these challenges.
“As a former student-athlete, I completely understand the many dynamics and intersectionality of being a Student-Athlete. Student-athletes personify a distinctive and challenging world of intercollegiate athletics. Many embody the term student-athlete, and it becomes their world. However, it often gets overshadowed that these athletes are also human. The issues and challenges your typical 18-24 year olds face do not magically avoid student-athletes. Those challenges, along with the challenges of being student-athletes, deserve to be addressed and handled with care.
Together we will work as one to ensure we are providing our athletes with the tools needed to be healthy both mentally and physically.” – Justin Corbett, Academic Support & Compliance Specialist
