Mick Reuter has been coaching at Oakton since 2008 as the Head Men's Basketball Coach. Coach Reuter says he enjoys coaching at Oakton Community College because "it gives me the opportunity to assist a diverse population of student athletes in achieving their athletic, academic and personal goals."
Mick played basketball at Ohio High School in Ohio, IL and then at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1996.
Coach Reuter began his coaching career at St. Gregory High School in Chicago as the boy's and girl's head volleyball coach and assistant boy's basketball coach from 1997-1999. He began coaching at Oakton in September of 1998 until May of 2003 as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. Coach Reuter took over as Head Men's Basketball Coach in 2008 and continues to lead in this position today. In 2017, Coach Reuter had one of his athletes, Tafari Beckford, named 2017 Second Team All-American and ISCC Player of the Year.
Mick earned his Bachelor's of Arts degree from Knox College in 1996 and earned his Juris Doctor at John Marshall Law School in 1999.
Coach Reuter's coaching philosophy is centered around character above all else. Reuter says "Everything is earned. We believe in the development of the individual student athlete, physically, mentally and emotionally. Student athlete growth leads to success."
