Riley Mendoza serves as the head coach of the Oakton College softball program after being promoted to the role following the 2023 season. She joined the program as an assistant coach and has played a key role in rebuilding and reestablishing the team’s competitive presence.
In her first season as head coach, Mendoza led Oakton through its first varsity season in multiple years, guiding the team to a third place finish in conference play.
Prior to Oakton, Mendoza began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Morton College in 2022.
Mendoza is a former collegiate student-athlete who graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago, Illinois, where she was a record-setting player and earned All-Conference honors for two seasons. As a senior, she received national recognition for her fielding percentage.
She continued her academic and athletic career at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa from 2017 to 2021. While at St. Ambrose, Mendoza earned bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Social Work and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2022.
Mendoza is dedicated to the development of student-athletes both on and off the field, emphasizing skill development, accountability, and personal growth.
